Details

Batu, also known as Red Balau is sourced from Indonesia. With its beautiful reddish-brown color, it is similar to mahogany, but offers better and more consistent quality than plantation grown mahogany. As a tropical hardwood, it is strong and durable with a Janka Hardness rating of 2100 lbs. It is also resistant to rot, decay, fungus, and termites, so you can expect a lifespan of 30 years.

Batu is also oftentimes compared to Ipe for its high density and hardness. However, Batu is easier to work than Ipe since it's lighter weight. It's more affordable too!
